Different expertise. One shared purpose.
RiskClima is a spin-off from more than seven years of work and experience in the broader field of Risk Management. Several members of the RiskClima team bring substantial professional experience either as Risk Officers or as developers of specialised risk management software.
Through our work in Risk Management, we have frequently helped organisations move from Excel spreadsheets and fragmented processes to more comprehensive Risk Analysis tools. This experience also led us to develop our own Risk Management platform, which is already in the market and currently serves more than a dozen customers.
The need for Climate Risk analysis emerged from a key observation: traditional risk management is not designed to assess risks over the longer-term horizons associated with climate change. Corporate datasets are typically based on historical and current business information and are often not equipped to incorporate climate events, scientific projections and other relevant information needed to model potential climate impacts against future milestones established through global agreements such as the Paris Agreement, as well as related regulatory and policy frameworks.
RiskClima, developed with co-funding from the European Union, was created to extend Risk Management into forward-looking climate assessments. Its purpose is to help companies and organisations understand and measure the potential impact of Climate Change on their operations, while also supporting the evaluation of investments and actions required to address evolving climate-related risks and opportunities.
This includes both adaptation measures, aimed at managing and reducing climate-related risks, and mitigation measures, such as investments designed to reduce carbon emissions and support the transition towards a lower-carbon economy.
Nineteen people, are working on this project: A multidisciplinary team of physicists, chemists, geologists, economists, engineers, data scientists and software developers. Combining strong academic backgrounds with practical business and technology experience, the team has spent the past three years developing RiskClima into the platform available today.
Together, we work toward one objective: turning complex climate information into practical intelligence that organisations can understand, evaluate and act upon.

Project Leadership
Dr. Evangelia Louropoulou
Dr. Evangelia Louropoulou leads the overall development of RiskClima, bringing together its scientific, technological and business dimensions.
The role is centred on ensuring that the different disciplines behind RiskClima work as one — from climate science and risk methodology to data, artificial intelligence and practical business applications.
Dr. Evangelia Louropoulou is an Environmental Scientist, with extensive experience in environmental and climate change risk assessment and risk management. In addition, she has experience in the design and implementation of mission-critical business systems in the fields of environment, climate change, and risk management.
She participates actively as a consultant and analyst in projects and applications related to Climate Change and Sustainability. Her work combines scientific analysis and business risk modelling, transforming data from external climate databases and models (e.g.RCP scenarios) into decision-ready information through advanced data analytics and risk quantification techniques. She contributes to the development of models and algorithms for forward-looking climate risk predictions, the expansion of risk registers, and the enhancement of her company’s software tools. She is also a Consultant to the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and has held research positions at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel and the University of Athens, participating in land-based and oceanographic missions. She has published part of her scientific work in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at numerous international conferences.
Academic Qualifications: She holds a BSc in Chemistry and an MSc in Chemistry and Environmental Technology from the University of Athens, and a PhD in Natural Sciences (Environmental Chemistry and Oceanography) from Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel, Germany.
